Update: Storm Damaged Shelter Cages - Help Needed

Last week, Jackson and Gloria reported there was a bad storm that caused damage to some of the shelter cages for the dogs. Please consider any small donation to help rebuild the cages and provide much-needed food.

Jackson and Gloria said: "We have some challenges which we would wish to find a solution for most especially finding dog food which is a serious problem to us! We experienced a bad night on Friday where heavy winds combined with rain destroyed our small cages which we have been using to keep the dogs especially the puppies to the extent of taking off the roof of one of the cages.

We kindly request any support as we look forward to bringing good days to the African dogs. We’re very grateful!"

A $50 Bag of Dog Food Can Help Many Dogs

 Recently the shelter received money to help buy dog food for the shelter, and here are some photos of the dogs happily eating a good meal. Please help this mom and her adorable puppies.

Volunteering for a rescue is an emotionally taxing, often rewarding and sometimes heart-wrenching job. This week has been one of the taxing and heart-wrenching weeks.

    We just lost a puppy the other day. This has been a difficult experience for all who work at the shelter and care for these dogs. 

    We pray that soon we can be able to access dog food as well as medication for the sick ones.

Learn about Katakala Dog Rescue, and What we Do

Katakala Dog rescue Uganda is a small rescue located in Kassanda District, Central region of Uganda, in East Africa. This initiative was started on the 22nd of November 2020 after the outbreak of the deadly Covid-19 virus which badly affected the African land. With the Global population of Dogs considered to be around 900M, only 20% of these are regarded as owned pets!  

   As for the case here, stray dogs became a normal case in Uganda to the extent that the locals started poisoning dogs in order to reduce their numbers as they weren’t ready for the outcome. 

    Katakala Dog Rescue Uganda came up with a mission of rescuing and protecting street, homeless, sick and other kinds of dogs to help provide food, shelter, medicine as well as other basic needs and we have so far managed to save over 67 dogs with 18 of them directly under our control amidst the unforeseen conditions faced in the process! 

   We have managed to rent a place which had formally been a home for pigs and we continue dreaming of a more stable and clean place for our lovely dogs. We call upon all Global concerned individual and Dog Lovers to come join our mission as we look to save many more struggling dogs out there.

Welcome to the new webpage for the Katakala Dog Shelter in Uganda. We are a small rescue, located in Uganda that has taken in many homeless dogs that need your help and support. 

We are not receiving enough donations to keep the dogs fed and provide them medical care. We have created this blog in hopes of raising funds to care for the many homeless dogs who need help. There's an urgent need now!
