Katakala Dog rescue Uganda is a small rescue located in Kassanda District, Central region of Uganda, in East Africa. This initiative was started on the 22nd of November 2020 after the outbreak of the deadly Covid-19 virus which badly affected the African land. With the Global population of Dogs considered to be around 900M, only 20% of these are regarded as owned pets! As for the case here, stray dogs became a normal case in Uganda to the extent that the locals started poisoning dogs in order to reduce their numbers as they weren’t ready for the outcome.
Katakala Dog Rescue Uganda came up with a mission of rescuing and protecting street, homeless, sick and other kinds of dogs to help provide food, shelter, medicine as well as other basic needs and we have so far managed to save over 67 dogs with 18 of them directly under our control amidst the unforeseen conditions faced in the process! We have managed to rent a place which had formally been a home for pigs and we continue dreaming of a more stable and clean place for our lovely dogs. We call upon all Global concerned individual and Dog Lovers to come join our mission as we look to save many more struggling dogs out there.
